How the calculations should be used

SC Ballistics is produced and maintained by Strike Coded Bootcamp. The app turns the values you enter into practical estimates; it does not replace manufacturer data, qualified instruction, or confirmation at the range.

Inputs and models

Results depend on the projectile, velocity, distance, scope, and environmental values supplied by the user, using the model identified by each tool.

Field validation

Treat trajectory and scope adjustments as a starting point. Confirm them progressively on a safe range before relying on them.

Units and safety

Unit conversions follow the International System of Units. Reloading and firearm safety data must come from the relevant manufacturers.

Technical guide / Ballistic calculation

How does a ballistic calculator work?

A ballistic calculator estimates projectile trajectory from muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient, sight height, zero range, and atmospheric conditions. SC Ballistics turns those inputs into bullet-drop, energy, and scope-correction tables in MOA or MRAD, available offline on iOS and Android.

Ballistics calculator inputs that matter

IN/01

Projectile and velocity

Use the correct projectile weight and ballistic coefficient. When possible, enter chronograph-measured muzzle velocity instead of relying only on the nominal velocity printed on the ammunition box.

IN/02

Sight and zero

Measure sight height from the bore axis to the optic center, confirm the true zero range, and select the turret unit. These values turn trajectory into useful scope clicks.

IN/03

Atmosphere and range

Temperature, pressure, altitude, and wind affect trajectory. Record local conditions and calculate only to distances you can verify safely at an authorized shooting range.

From ballistic model to drop table

The bullet-drop tool uses Runge-Kutta numerical integration to estimate trajectory while accounting for gravity, aerodynamic drag, and atmospheric conditions. G1 and G7 models describe how a projectile relates to standard drag curves. Results include drop, velocity, energy, and corrections matched to the scope unit.

Why verify the calculation on target?

Every ballistics calculator produces an estimate from the inputs provided. Lot variation, actual velocity, optic mounting, and weather can shift the point of impact. Confirm zero and trajectory progressively in a safe, authorized environment before relying on the table under different conditions.

Use the Scope Calibration tool in SC Ballistics Calculator. Enter zeroing distance, bullet velocity, ballistic coefficient, and scope height. The app calculates adjustments in MOA or MRAD and generates a correction table by distance.
The Ballistic Drop Calculator calculates trajectory considering initial velocity, ballistic coefficient, zeroing distance, and environmental conditions. Generates tables with drop in centimeters and necessary scope adjustments.
The Ballistic Coefficient Calculator uses velocities measured at two distances, bullet weight and diameter, and environmental conditions. The app automatically calculates BC using G1 or G7 models.
Use the Ballistic Converters. 1 MOA ≈ 1.047 inches at 100 yards; 1 MRAD = 3.6 inches at 100 yards. The app converts between MOA, MRAD, and degrees.
The Grouping Analysis allows marking impacts on a target photo, calibrating the scale, and calculating group diameter in centimeters, MOA, and MRAD. The app classifies accuracy and suggests corrections.
The Kinetic Energy Calculator uses mass (grains or grams) and velocity (m/s or fps) and returns energy in Joules or ft·lbs.
The Reloading Cost Calculator allows recording costs of bullet, primer, powder, and case and calculates cost per round, helping compare loads and save money.
The Ballistic Converters convert velocity between m/s, fps, km/h, and mph. Enter a value and the app converts automatically.
The Free Recoil Energy Calculator uses firearm weight, bullet weight, velocity, and powder weight and returns recoil energy in Joules or ft·lbs.
The Scope Calibration calculates adjustments to zero at a specific distance. Enter desired distance, bullet velocity, and BC, and the app indicates necessary clicks.
The Ballistic Drop Calculator uses the Runge-Kutta method to calculate trajectory considering gravity, aerodynamic drag, and environmental conditions. Generates complete trajectory tables.
The Ballistic Drop Calculator generates tables with drop, corrections, and necessary clicks for different distances. You can save and export as PDF.
